I have a 87 4000cs quattro and just put in the european headlight kit from blau just the stock replacements. I also have a set of Hella 500 series driving lights which i have hook up to switch on when the highs are on. But right after i wired them up they wont work everytime i go to hit the high the fuse for the driving lights blows instantly. I cant figure it out i wired everything to the relay as in the wiring papers and no wires are touching metal or pinched or broken. The relay is a 30a 12v maybe it is to small or defective. I need suggestions really bad I am stumped badly.
Thanks

It's been a loooong time since I installed the H4's in my car, and I also ran some Hella 500's at the same time.
When we did the H4's, we added a relay into the system for the headlights as the switch on the dash can't take the current flow and will eventually go bad. How did we wire it? I couldn't tell ya without staring at the car.
The 500's should be wired so that they are triggered with the high beams as you said. Perhaps if you haven't added a headlamp relay into the system it is too much current draw and the fuse is blowing...
BTW, I wasn't impressed with the 500's and took them off. They only throw a round spot of light straight ahead which I don't find real useful. Plus, where the heck do you mount them that they don't look stupid?
There is no substitute for Rallye 2000's like I had on my Fiesta. Ohhh baby! Don't stare at the road signs with those on!!
