I have an 82 Coupe that doesn't want to illuminate the brake lights or the rear lamps. I checked the fuse in position 6 and it appears to be fine. The bulbs look OK also, but none of the 4 lamps want to illuminate under any condition - lights on or off, brakes on or off. My repair manual is packed in storage so I cant check the circuit. Is there something else I need to check that is in the circuit for all these lamps?

I had a similar problem however w/ a 4KS; the culprit was the wires that ran along the trunk hinges over time deteriorated. It may not be a problem exclusive to the 4KS since your bulbs & fuses are OK as were mine. Crimping solved this and the problem never reoccurred. My $0.02 worth. Good luck.

I had a problem with a trunk light that would stay on even with the trunk closed. We found that the wiring harness to the rear goes up the rear bulkhead and into the trunk. The rear seatback was putting pressure on the harness and eventually had chafed through some of the wires, grounding the trunk light so it was always on. Not sure this is your problem, but it's certainly worth a look.
