I bought a new Blaupunkt radio fro my 87.5 CGT and installed it myself six months ago.. it ran fine until a few months ago when it would turn off, or barely work(volume would be weird, faceplate wouldn't light up etc) and it's entirely random working/ not working.. I went to the place i bought it and they said that alot of audi's have problems with thier accessory power wire and that's probably causing the radio to get like 11 volts and make the radio work wierd... has anyone heard of this? Where would i find a new accessory wire mounting point to hard wire it?
Also, the radio will work when i first start the car up and my voltage is under 12(as read by the electronic voltmeter). If not enough voltage through the wire was the problem, wouldn;t it definitly get wacky then? I have a few months on the warranty to fiddle around to find the problem..

thanks in advance

i got that with my blau also, it comes on then turns right off because there is not enough voltage sometimes.

i fixed my problem by getting a new voltage regulator, now i get 13 volts constantly.

a new voltage regulator for the entire car? Could it be that my battery is on the way out, sometimes the car stars up low voltage, but once you rev the engine the alt. runs it back up...

Also, if my voltmeter is showing over 12 volts (i have that funky bar vlotmeter they put on the late CGTS) isn't my entire system well into 13v? if i run the wire that powers the voltmeter to the radio, wouldn't that assure the radio is getting enough power?

did your blau's faceplate notlight up or go off while the radio still worked?

it's so hard to fix this kinda stuff, there's so many variables
thanks
