Man the more I read and learn up about the 4ks the more I like them! I had my mind set on a 91 200TQ but really don't like the fact that it is as big as a Chevy Caprice...though I was surprised to find out even in Quattro trim they only weigh around 3450 lbs..
The 4000's are the best looking pre 92 Audi sedan in my opinion...hopefully I find a good example that isnt a lemon!
My '87 4000S Quattro is the best car I've ever owned. There were no "lemons", but there are "unmaintained" examples to watch out for. Good luck, I hope you find one, you'll love it.

I think I am going to try to find a 86/87 CS with leather...does anyone know if it was the same type as similar year 5000s? The Alcantara stuff or whatever?
Also...Ive called on about 8 4Ks so far, and while a few said they had "every option", I still havent found one with the multi function computer. Does anyone have one here?
Mine does not have the trip computer. I'm not sure how common this feature is. I would think about a cloth interior. Old leather is almost always distressed and Audi makes some of the best cloth interiors in the world (they look new forever). Don't get to picky about options (even the base models are well equipped), just get a car that is mechanically sound. Try to find a quattro, it's worth the difference. I can't see myself ever driving anything but an Audi quattro.

Yeah, I havnt seen any with the trip computer. Mine doesnt have it, neither does the Quattro that im gonna pick up. I agree about the leather though. But I havnt even seen that in a 4000, ive seen some in a 5000. But my cloth looks brand new, its very supportive too. The base model 4000 comes with lots of goodies(power everything, except seats).
