I just changed my oil and oil filter today, unfortunately my dad reccomends i purchase a Fram one instead of the regular black one from the dealership. I am agaist this, but, is there any harm in using an aftermarket filter? Also, i finally changed my clock, that thing never worked, hehe, now it does :)

I run the larger VW Diesel filter. Holds almost a quart of oil by its self! 3 time the filter media of the standard size filter. Plus I use
Deutsch brand filters, have done for years, never had a problem.

http://members.xoom.com/minimopar/oilfilterstudy.html</a

Well..it seems that I have two of them, BUT, both are inoperable, plus my dad may wanna hold onto them, dont ask me why.

Well, I know the feeling, my clock never worked from when i got the car from my aunt in august of '99. But, I got lucky, i was able to tear apart an 86 or 87 4000S for free, the guy didnt want it, so thats how i got my first one. The second one(the one that worked) was acquired from a car in the junkyard, where oddly enough, Im going back to on friday to try and pry open the hood! But, your best bet is a junkyard, but take along a volt meter or something to make sure it works.
