The window switches for the rear windows on the console in front arent working, but the switches in the rear do. Any ideas why this might be happening? When i depress the switch for either rear window, the volt meter shows no decline, whereas if i try the front ones, the needle drops a bit until i let go of the switch. Any info is greatly appreciated!

to carefully pry open the switches and clean them up with a good electrical cleaning spray. Also clean the contacts(prongs) as they tend to get corroded over time...

If that does'nt work, any junkyard will probably have some laying around in a 4000...

If that does'nt work I think I may have a couple of spares lying around. LMK.

Yeah, I have almost a spare set of everything for this car, heh, so maybe just replacing the switches will do it. I already had to replace the child lock switch in the middle of the 4 window switches. Thanks!

Try cleaning them first. I have an '84 which have the harder to find, more expensive variety. Basically yank out the switches and dis-assemble them. You will notice that there is a lot of carbon build-up at the contacts. I used a dremel tool with the buffer attachment and it worked great. Then spray with a good contact cleaner (Wurth Contact OL) and repeat if necessary. It is a lot cheaper than replacing switches @$20-$50 each.

Mine is shimmed up with a match stick now. Where did you find your replacement?

A generous soul who's 87 4000 was just sitting in the parking lot of his work waiting to be towed away after being hit. Knock on wood, i took everything i could possibly think of, hehe.
Also, I got another set from a junkyard.
