This is both a 4000 question and an audio question. What is the best place on a 4000 to run a power cable from the battery to the inside of the car? I've been thinking about the rubber trunk release grommet. The only problems with this are that the cable would pass over the rubber piece that creates a seal with the trunk lid, and that the grommet is horizontal (the cable would enter vertically), so water could get in if it wasn't sealed up well. Does anyone know of a specific grommet in the firewall I could use. The advantage of the trunk release grommet is that it is easy to access from inside the car without removing the dash. If it is necessary to remove the dash, could someone explain how. I'm not sure which screws need to come out to do this.

I did some more searching around and I found two round black grommets that come through by the clutch. To get at them from the inside you have to remove the section of the dash below the steering wheel that has the little cubby hole. There are four screws to remove it. One in the cubby hole, one under the far left vent, and one on either side of the steering wheel. The whole covering underneath the steering wheel will now come out easily. Inside there's a little piece of cardboard next to the clutch pedal that comes out easily. The grommets are now easily accessible. There might be a little bit of insulation or padding blocking the grommets from view. Now all I have to do is figure out how to pull the cable under the carpet.
