just kidding - it's a circa-1956/57 (from the suicide doors) Auto Union/DKW 3=6 (the name was a marketing ploy - a three cylinder two-stroke engine "equals" a six cylinder four-stroke engine) 1000cc two-stroke engine with only 7 basic moving engine parts (crank, pistons and conrods - no valves, camshafts, oil pump, etc.) Thermosyphon engine coolant circulation through radiator mounted between engine and firewall - a water pump was available to cars sold in the Tropics but was not fitted as standard anywhere else. 4-speed on the tree. Interesting hood scoop and venting.
If it was race prepped you could find some suprising stuff under the hood - anything from a Mitter-tuned 3-cylinder race engine (from Formula Junior competition), to a 6 cylinder two-stroke engine that was developed near the end of the DKW two-stroke run.
Looks like that was an excellent event.
Cheers!<ul><li><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DKW_F91">DKW F91</a></li></ul>

I posted pictures of the car and engine on the DKW Yahoo Group site about 2 years ago under Goodwood where she was racing. I want those expansion chambers !!!!!!
