View Full Version : WTB: A2 front tubular bumper support. mx 05-05-2004, 05:27 PM subject says it all.. Looking for the tubular support that goes behind the bumper up front. Thanks! fusilier 05-06-2004, 03:08 PM mx 05-06-2004, 06:28 PM I can try :) Its the C shaped tubular bar that connects to the frame rails. the front lower control arms have the rods that extend to these and mount via heim joints. fusilier 05-07-2004, 04:53 AM I have exactly what your looking for. I doubt you will find one for sale, but mine is off the car right now along with the leading arms. I can measure them. This piece is very particular because many things mount to it: The front bumper, front snub, front rally lights. mx 05-07-2004, 11:51 AM Yes, exactly. Sorry about that, I keep forgetting they have an A2 now too. (yech). mx 05-07-2004, 11:52 AM Are you looking to sell yours? Maybe just the dimensions would work, they arent too difficult to replicate I would imagine... fusilier 05-08-2004, 05:33 AM Mine is obviously not for sale. Here are some pictures from my website. I'll snap some photos of these pieces ASAP. The 1st bar goes across the front, and it holds the lights, serves as a bumper and is also a snub for the motor. Its used in conjunction with the Rally bumper cover. I've seen copies for sale in Germany. There is a link on my website for A2 repro parts. Franz in Germany. The 2nd piece goes under the front of the motor. It holds the skidplate as well as additional bracing for the front of the car. You can make it out to the right in this picture. Note the 1st bar has extensions to bolt into the 2nd bar. The 2nd bar is also what the leading arms from the wishbone attach to. The leading arm is removed in this picture. You can see the connection clearly here. And the third piece goes back under the car by the trans tunnel. Its not as important, but you have to have this to mount a skidplate. You can see my Kevlar skidplate lying on the concrete there. The leading arm on the wishbone is removed. fusilier 05-08-2004, 06:02 AM Front suspension is tilted back and the angle on the lower front tube's flanges are such that the rods are at the right angle to allow for movement up and down of the suspension without the need for flexible joints. In this way, the suspension is further stiffened. fusilier 05-08-2004, 09:57 AM

http://www.bufkinengineering.com/lowercrossmember.htm</a

mx 05-08-2004, 04:39 PM Thanks for the great info and pictures, I really appreciate it. Nice car btw as well! Looks like an UrQ? (as opposed to A2?) fusilier 05-08-2004, 09:35 PM |
