View Full Version : Anyone saw the Auto Union Silver Arrow thing in Automobile? Jack in FL 06-13-2001, 07:49 AM it was in the April issue I think Gasp! I think I am the first non-testing poster! whoo hoo! SteveAngry 06-13-2001, 10:04 AM Jack in FL 06-13-2001, 12:42 PM V-16, and the steps they did to reproduce the car from just photos. It's incredible. 520hp 630lbs... that's a lot even in today's standards... Does any other manufacturer (sp?) do this? I think it's a great idea to preserve the heritage. Makes me all gooey inside thinkin' all our Audi's are somehow related to the Silver Bullet... :o) Swedespeed1 06-18-2001, 07:43 AM Those cars are awesome...even the new replicas. I saw them while at the Monterrey Historics, and it's really something to see. Their story is cool too. The Auto Union works found themselves in Russian territory following the war, and the cars were hidden in an abandoned coal mine. The Russians found them and took them back to Russia where they were examined, and most were taken apart and destroyed. For a long time, the only piece of any of them that existed was a V16 motor in Audi's lobby in Ingolstadt. Working for the Audi Tradition team would be a dream job. 90quattroman 09-21-2001, 07:55 AM Hey, this sounds pretty cool. Does anyone have a picture of it or any more info? Audi's sure have a unique heritage. Gotta love 'em. Teh DeSeRT Rat 02-22-2005, 05:24 PM |
