Had a couple of "clunks" this AM, brought in the A4 (without appt.) to dealer, and sure enough, it's in the VIN range. They're paying for a rental car for today, but said if they can't finish it until tomorrow (since no appt.), then I'll have to pay the next day.

I think that's bogus. Anyone had to pay for their own rental/loaner for non-appointment, recall work?

I have had my car in the shop for up to 10 days, including weekends, and they still paid for everything. Audi of America would not shaft you like that. Your service guy is a ass. I found that if you form a complaint with Audi of America against that individual then your service guy will be willing to bend over backwards for you. When they diagnosed the problem and gave you a 2 day story then you should of told them that you would drive it until they would schedule you in for an appointment.

If the car is disabled, which you can argue, then AOA (through the Advantage program) will reimburse you for a rental. The dealer is under NO obligation, but often will just to make you happy. If you just dropoff the car with a non-disabling problem, then only you pay.
