when the abs is on in my car, and i step on the pedal while moving at like 5 mph, it starts pulsing and there is a sorta buzzing noise. i've been told that this is because a speed sensor has become unplugged, dirty, w/e. i stuck my head under the car and didnt see a thing wrong. This didnt happen until i had the passenger side cv boot changed about a year ago. i have no problem right now driving with the abs off, but i would like to get it fixed. any ideas?

Assuming that your car is like my '87 5ktq, the sensors on each strut read the teeth on the outer CV joint. Problem is, that when the teeth get rusty, it's hard for the system to tell if there truly is a difference between the wheels and so it will activate all the time once you slow to low speeds.
When you replace a CV, the sensor should be pulled out an a new "ablative cap" fitted on the tip (white plastic sacrificial cap) - the sensor is pushed in as far as it will go, and then the teeth chew off a bit of the tip but the sensor will be at a standard distance from the teeth. SJM has a good bit of info about the ABS sensors and tips.

rusted, etc. If the sensor was bad, the ABS-off indicator light should be illuminated.

sometimes i'll forget to switch off the abs and the brakes will seemingly work fine for a few miles, the the lights on the dash will dim slightly and the abs light will come on. it would seem that the abs is taking a crapload of power for something, then failing... but this is only sometimes. usually the pedal just pulses until i shut it off.
