sorry for all the questions in advance

a friend of mine bought a 87 5000 cs turbo a while ago, drove it for a few months, and then just let it sit. I decided to get it from him and fix it up, and play with it. major problems are the wiring(its been butchered together, i plan on redoing a lot of it), and its got a horrible torque on pull(pretty sure that means it needs trans mounts).

I also plan on installing a manual boost controller, a boost gauge, a BOV, and the chipping the ecu so i can get some more boost out of it. I read somewhere that with an automatic trans you cant go over 1.8 bar, is this true? any help with doing this to the turbo on this car would be awesome.

And what would you guys recommend for moving the driver's seat back? its hard for me to actually fit comfortably in it.

I also want to redo the exhaust, i dont think i need the 3 cats and whatever else the car has on it, and i want to get a good sound from it(no, i do not want something that sounds like a fart can.)

theres a whole bunch more i want to do to it, but this is all i can think of right now, any help you can give would be awesome. I've been a mechanic and collision repair tech/painter for the past like 5 years, so i know what i'm doing, i jus thavent had much experience with audis.

thanks in advance

The automatics are weak. Since you are a mechanic you can do what you like boost wise as long as you don't mind replacing the transmission every once in a while. They have trouble even with 1.6bar. Alternately you could swap in a FWD standard.

Chips aren't hard to come by. Ebay has used ECUs sometimes. I chip them as well. Usually for 1.99bar fuel cut to maintain the safety.

The 'Shrapnel-Knobben' isn't required for 1.8 or 1.9 bar with a properly chipped ECU... unless you want to exceed the ECUs mapping. That can be done effectively.

You don't want a BOV arrangement. The car simply will not run. You need to install it as a BPV instead. Search the forum and you will find plenty of 'how to' information.

Seat? Dunno.

Exhaust - try and use the factory mounting points and go 3"

Good luck.

first and foremost get the car running correctly before you start adding all the Mods. I have a great running 87 5000CS with no mods and it's a great car. I call it my sea king * 14 hours maintenance for one hour driving ...ha ah ( Canadians will get that Joke ) cheers superdave .

* sea king is a 40 year old helicopter used by the Canadian Armed Forces
