They all take the same wheel bearing, but the strut housings are different, is my understanding.

When I replaced my strut bearings on my 87 5K, a friend working at a foreign car parts house suggested replacing with a VW strut bearing. It fit perfectly, and saved me about $25. I will look up the VW part number if you like.
