my car: 99.5 1.8tqms with apr 1bar & k&n air filter.
boost guage: blitz dual turbo timer / boost guage.

since it's japanese it spits out the readings in si units: kg/cm^2. the only conversion i found is on the inside of the gas lid which detail tire pressure based on occupancy load.

barkg/cm^2psikPa
2.132210
2.842280

i know the bar to psi conversion is not accurate (1bar=14.504psi therefore 2.1bar=30.458psi not 32psi). which makes me wonder if 1 bar actually is equal to 1 kg/cm2.

i'm boosting about 1.15kg/cm^2 at WOT and sometimes 1.2kg/cm^2. which means 17.405psi if 1bar=1kg/cm^2!!! someone tell me i'm right about the wrong conversion. otherwise i'm gonna seriously start looking for a boost controller.

ambient temp 60-75º F.

Find out what the max boost under load is. For some chips it is as high as 1.1 or 1.2 bar at WOT under load. That is of course assuming the conversion is correct, hopefully someone will post accurate conversion info.

I have the APR 1.0 bar v1.2 chip in my 1.8T with a VDO gauge reading in PSI. I see boosts of 17-18 PSI as well. I have not calibrated my gauge and installation required minor disassembly so I don't trust it's numbers. As long as I am not getting any pinging, I'm not worried.

Do call Brett. He always seems happy to help.

Good luck,

Depending on the temperature, I see up to 18 PSI. The ECU system does not directly regulate the boost pressure, it regulates (controls the wastegate) based on the intake air volume measured (MAF sensor) and the engine RPM. "1 BAR" chips may actually achieve more than 1 BAR of boost pressure. I think the definition of 1 BAR is 1 kg/cm^2.

My MTM 1.0 bar chip sees about 15-16 psi on my dakota digital gauge under full load. Normal
operation , engine is running in a vacuum.
