View Full Version : Doh, terrible tint job... anyone know how much it costs to get tint removed? MC 10-27-1999, 07:41 PM Can the tint be removed pretty cleanly, or can it leave behind some residue? thanks for any help... _Rl 10-27-1999, 07:57 PM MC 10-27-1999, 08:05 PM Russ 10-28-1999, 12:18 AM You really need to use an electric heatgun. Then clean with alcohol based cleaner - really meesy - make the fitter do it right for you or go to a quality fitter and pay him to do it right - If the dealer is that bad maybe you should tell us who he/she is. _rl 10-28-1999, 05:08 AM On my a4 i had that really reflective mirror tint installed on my car. With that kind of tinting you see everything that goes wrong. I have learned to live with the minor bubbles, but couldn't stand the scratch that the installer left behind. It dosent make sense to me how they can NOT mess up the back window but mess up one of the regular passenger windows. _rl 98.5 2.8 QTIP - clear corners/clear sidemarkers/eyebrows 4 sale =] Robert Jordan 10-28-1999, 05:09 AM Sorry to hear there are still shops around that do crappy tint work. I feel your pain. It's a bitch to remove, but I would recomend doing it yourself. Just use a razorblade to pick up a corner and peel the film off. Clean remaining adhesive with rubbing alcohol. I have seen too many rear window defrosters rendered inoperable by jerks installing/removing tint to let them go at it twice. They have proven their incompetence, move on to someone else. My 2ct Robert Jordan MC 10-28-1999, 06:13 AM There are some imperfections in my rear windshield... some small bubbles... even a small crease, but I decided to live with it... however, on the rear, side window, there are some scratch marks that are really an eye sore... I'm also quite surprised at how they can screw up a side window (worse than the rear windshield)! Didya get your sides fixed? MC 10-28-1999, 06:15 AM Greg 10-28-1999, 07:57 AM The guy that did mine had a little dust in the side windows on the passenger side and redid one that i asked him to then offered to fix the other which i let him do cause now it looks 100x better! the rear was fine from the start, maybe they just get lazy when they do the sides... |
