View Full Version : Headlight question...

My headlights suck... there is no way around it and my poor night vision isn't helping the cause either. One light looks fairly new and the other looks rusted on the inside and there is always condensation in there. I'm putting all the other stuff on the "to do" list on hold to make my night driving a little safer. What should I do to improve the lighting? Where can I get the best bang for my buck?

A). new stock headlights
B). an upgrade of somesorts
C). look for used parts
D). have a police helicopter follow me where ever I go at night?

Seriously driving last night on the highway was scary. I need help... let me know what my options are and price ranges.

Thanks a lot!

you need 200 lights then.. turbo lights, whatever you want to call them.

they are a night and day difference over the DOT ones, and you can change lenses if they crack.

problems are though:
as they are european part numbers, the local stealer generally cant get them
uh what else.. they arent cheap, stateside at least... check out ebay i guess, thats where i got mine.

Just make sure to get shipping insurance. Mine came with broken lenses and it was still a worthwile deal. Search for 'scheinwerfer 200' and start to translate.
The difference with these headlights is unreal. You go from the crappiest on the road to the best (HID's not included). Don't forget to relay them!

after a few weeks, I really didnt like the look of the running light portion, so I blacked it out which you can see in my signature pic.

the light output of these modern HID projector stlye lights is simply amazing

http://forums.audiworld.com/v8/msgs/81469.phtml</a

I put them in a 1990 100 FWD, and my new addition a 1985 5000 S. It was a big improvement on both cars with the 100 yellow tint turning into a bright white (my son was amazed). When test driving at night with the 5000 S the previous owner suggested I turn on the brights for better vision, you have to understand this was out in the country in South Dakota (very dark). Now when I drive out on a country road at night the brights are not quite necessary, but helpful just like any car!

the H4 style euro lights made by Depo from importvision.com

Good light pattern. Decent quality. Good price.

You will have to get a grill from a N/A 5000 to complete the install.

If you don't want to go that route buy used euro's.

Will the Imortvision lights work with this grill?

Thanks!

Anything from 84-91 5000/100 will work as long as it's got the N/A engine.

N/A means naturally aspirated.

The pic you posted is the "turbo" grill.
