I bought my '98 A4 2.8 30v Tip on September 29, 1997. It was the first '98 off the truck at the dealership. The only reason I got rid of my '96 A4 2.8 12v at that point was because the 30v had arrived.

Through the '97 model year, 2.8 A4 was still 12v. The 30v arrived with the start of the '98 model year.

Our 98 a6 avant has the 12v engine, not the 30 - so I guess this
means that the above applies to A4's only?
