I have a '97 A4Q (35,000 mi) with those crappy factory Contis, and took a nail through my sidewall.

I have 10,000 miles left on my lease and would love to buy a set of 4 Dunlops to replace them all insted of just replacing that single tire. However, I don't know if I want to drop the cash for a leased car with 10,000 miles left.

At end of lease, does Audi pro-rate tires and try to recoup new ones from damage deposit so Dunlops would be a good idea or do they take the car back with tires 'as is' expecting 'reasonable wear"?

At the end of the lease, they will make sure that your tires have a certain minimum tread and require you to replace if they don't.
However you won't get any credit for extra tread remaining or for high quality tires.
I guess I wouldn't invest anymore than I had to.

The leasing company makes sure there is enough tread on the tires to pass state inspection. For example, Maryland requires 3/32 of tread. Find out what your state inspection requirements are and then find out how many 32's you have left. Then make your decision. Chances are, that after 10,000 more miles you will need to replace your tires before you turn in your lease. So I would so get your dunlops.

I have 9K on my wheels and will be buying snows soon. If you are in CO you are welcome to them.

Reggie -

I actually live in Boston, but what would it be worth to you to ship them to me?

Thanks for your help!

I can give you the name and phone number of the Postnet near me. They could arrange the shipping with you. I just don't want to hassle with all the paper work and this issue of paying for the shiping vs your paying me etc.

I am just waiting to hear when I will get the snow tires I ordered at Discount tire. They said the Dunlop Grasphics are backordered. I may see if they have D2s in stock - they are more expensive though.

Sounds good - thanks!

Can you email the info to me (davemahoney@hotmail.com) and I'll set that up? When will you know when your Dunlops will be available?

Thanks again!
