Not that it really matters much now but last year I had a 1991 100 which died on me about 200 miles from where I live. I started it up and the engine felt like it was missing, as if one of the cylinders wasn't firing. As it gets worse I play with the gas to keep it running then all of a sudden there is a huge blanket of white smoke behind me, after that it stalled and wouldnt restart. Just curious. Oh and I called wrecking hard to come pick it up, it had a lot of rear end damage caused by spinning around on the highway in a snowstorm. Thanks for your help.

White smoke out the tail pipe is indication of coolant getting into the combustion chamber.
So much of it probably leaked into one of the cylinders, that it must have hydro-locked at the end.

got it at 140,000 and had it till 178,000 miles. The only thing I had to replace was the hyraulic fluid steering rack hose and heater blower. Much more reliable than my 94 S4.

just curious, did it overheat at some time, missing for awhile or a higher usage of coolant prior to the ultimate?
