Just finished tracking down the pieces to fit a killer-deal priced set of 2002 A4 rims on the 5ktq. It came with Michelin Pilot Primacy tires, 235/45WR17. Too big in diameter, but almost new, and I wasn't gonna throw 'em out... The FACTORY A4 wheels are 45 mm offset. This is key! They will clear the rear fenders, and will do fine up front, with addition of Eibach or H&R 8 mm spacers. I found longer lug bolts from Wheel Specialties here in AZ...

Finished product looks GOOOD! They're like mega-Fuchs, stylewise.

Just for those playing around with wheel and tire combos. I think this is the upper limit, who'd a thought it would work... but it does!

No, not even doing a jaw-dropping pass on the inside on a '70 Mustang Boss 302 going onto the freeway ramp. Very tossable, the grip is fantastic. Pics coming soon...

The rear fenders don't cause interference, it's the front steering knuckles. You need spacers on either a 200 w/UFOs (I test fit for the heck of that one) or a 5000/200 with G60s. And make sure that they are real Audi 45mm offset rims, not 35mm replicas.

Yes. By "too big" I meant that they were of slightly larger rolling diameter than the 205/60-15 stock setup. They fit the car just fine and don't rub anywhere, provided you use spacers and heed the need for 45mm offset!

Can't speak for your budget, but for me, nearly new Michelin Pilot Primacy W-rated tires don't get discarded for being a 1/4" taller than ideal. 225/40-17 would be closer to Plus 2 than the outsize 235-45-17 I used...
