View Full Version : My bomb is dead its official :( 87Audi 11-07-2004, 05:31 PM roughly how much would a accumilator cost me at the junk yard, because I raelly don't feel like spending $400 canadian on it (new). RussB 11-07-2004, 05:43 PM I'd guess that junkyards might sell a bomb for maybe $10.00 . . . but how do you determine its condition? I've never seen a bench test procedure for the brake accumulator. I suppose that if you were handy with hydraulics and weren't afraid to work with pressures exceeding 1000 PSI you could rig up a test fixture. I guess that with a bomb from a junkyard you pays yer money and you takes yer chances. The link below contains a procdeure for recharging dead bombs. While interesting to fantasize about it, I don't trust it at 1200 PSI. I'm surprised that the author found a shop that was willing to recharge it to 1200PSI:

http://www.audifans.com/archives/1998/02/msg00441.html</a

MarkPan 11-07-2004, 06:06 PM i paid $40 cdn. each. one worked, haven't tried the other yet.. |
