i think my thermostat is too big. this is the first time i'm replacing it on the 20v and its not seating properly. shame on me but its a chinese part that i bought from advanced auto parts. the edge sits just on the outside rim. not sure if its supposed to keep the thermostat in place or if i could shave off a bit and have it sit better. any idea where i can get a GERMAN thermostat quick? blau won't let me order for under 20 bucks. thermo is 17.95 and i don't need anything else. i just orderd coolant from them too. thanks for the help.

It's plastic right? At least that's what I heard.
You can use the aluminum housing from a 10vt. with a little bit of modding, it will fit.

BTW, you definitely gotten the wrong 'stat. the right one is a snug fit, but fits right in.

Usually what is inside the box is OEM type stuff. Packaged as Stant or something, but inside is often the same type of stuff you might get at a good parts place.

i'm going to be making myself one soon and i'll have time to make you one too. i remember you asked me to make one for you but i never had time. if anyone else needs one then i'll make it if i have enough vents if not, i'll run by the boneyard and pull some extra ones up. heres a pic of what the final install looks like. boost guage is 2 1/16" round.
