Hey all,
I want to take the wood trim off my dash (1990 200TQ) to repair it. The long piece to the right of the steering wheel is loose and I want to see if I can fix it. I am unsure how to remove it though? My Bentley doesn't seem to have any info on removing it but maybe I looked in the wrong section.

I know some of you have done this and I wonder if you can give me some guidance?

If the finish is polyurethane (it is very likely to be epoxy, similar to WES Systems. That is what they use on mahogany bars) instead of all that sanding try this. There are various "furniture refinishers" available. What these are, judging by the smell, is diluted paint remover. If you apply this to any finish suseptible to paint remover, it melts the finish and "re-amalgamates" it. Whatever the case may be, it softens the finish, removing small scratches and fogging. While in its "molten" state work the finish over lightly with very fine steel wool. When the finish rehardens, sand lightly and finish with very fine steel wool. In the actual manufacture, it is probably buffed rather than sanded.
