Im also gonna pick up a used power steering pump for my 89 100. I found one in an 1990 100 for a great price. both years use the same pump, right?

add some Petosin to each port, then turn the pully by hand to flush out any dirt in the new pump...........Regards, Rooster

in my country it is cheaper to renew steering pump it cost about 30-50$ with 1year warranty :)

Never heard of Petosin, avail where? Good idea since you don't know where or how long it sat. Heh Dikiz.. $30 to rebuild? We can't get anyone to look any more, everyone thinks they have to make what a dealer charges, which is 50 to 75/ hr.

available at most foreign car parts places. Whatever you do, don't add regular power steering fluid to the reservoir. The petroleum in the product will ruin the seals in your rack in short order. Then you will be facing at least an $800 bill to replace the rack.

I have heard of guys flushing out the Petosin, and replacing with Mobil 1 synthetic ATF. I heard that it works fine, is readily available, but no guarantee that it will work well over a long period of time,,,,,,,,,,Rooster

Central Hydraulic Fluid (mineral stock base "green gold" and synthetic "red label")
Coolant/anti-freeze (also two kinds, red and blue)

Thanks, now I know it is the same oil I've been using as rec by the Audi dealer. Boy that stuff is expensive! I may try the Mobil 1 ATF next time but would need more research before doing. Should I start a new thread? I'm new at this site stuff and need some guidance before I get off track and interfere with someonelse's question.
