View Full Version : my boost is kind of pathetic

I never seem to hit more than 1.2, and 1.1 is common.

Cant seem to find the problem. checked a few sensors and such, the hoses to the IC, what else..

Im thinking maybe the frequency valve took a dump, so im curious, what kind of boost does the turbo deliver with just the spring, no 'computer assist'?

it's an '84, but the KH engine couldn't hack it so I put in a MC. but it still has all support from the KH. so oil-cooled turbo, dual-oil filter deal, MAC-07 computer, etc.

I was thinking of just modding the MAC-07 with the resistor mod (just a little over normal) so that i can get.. say 1.6 or 1.8bar, and then jacking up the seat in the wastegate so that the spring delivers it.

It has the auto in it, but I have a 5spd in the backyard.. should be able to retrofit that huh? or?

Looking for some ideas.

I believe 1.2 is the stock boost for your car. You might want to try a 1.8 WG spring and a QLCC chip. Although, I am not sure if the QLCC will work with a MAC-07 ECU. Contact Ben Swann and he'll let you know for sure.

Cheers!

I don't think the QLCC will work with MAC-07.
If i remember, -07 has the data on chip, rather than a seperate PROM (a la MAC-11)

I suppose i could shoehorn in a MAC-11, but the pinout is a little different, so there would be some work to do. And probably cost a few bucks for the ECU.

I guess I'll have to go with the spring and resistor mod.
