I have a 1991 V8 with the 5 spd tranny and my left front CV is going bad. I have tried locating a new one, but havent had much luck. I have found plenty of sources for the auto tranny, but I need the one for the 5 spd. Somebody suggested getting it rebuilt instead of buying a new one, but not sure where I could get that done either.
I like to do the work on my car myself and I am wondering how hard it is to do the CV on this car. I have done the job on other vehicles, but never an Audi. Do I need any special tools?

Thanks in advance!

The shaft is a different length but the joints themselves are interchangable.

Lisle packages 4 different sizes, including 10mm, of triple square bits, which fit into a 13mm(?) socket, in a blister pack card. Pep Boys stores usually stock it. Cost about $12.

Snap-On makes a high quality 1/2 inch drive 10mm triple square socket. Cost about $24.

They can get you the parts you need.
The rebuilt axle I got from them used 2 brand new Lobro joints.

http://www.raxles.com</a
