I live in northern california and I'm looking to purchase a new Audi and was wondering if anyone has any information regarding the sales and service departments of Carlsen and Rector Audi. I want to be able to trust the dealership from whom I purchase the car. Has anyone had any positve or negative experiences that might help me make a decision between these dealerships...

Thanks - jb

About 24 a4.org visitors have bought from Ernst. Honest, Very fair, knowledgeable individual that makes the buying experience a win-win situation.

He is out of town right now...but will be back on Thursday or Friday of this week.

I bought my 97 2.8QM from him...and have a 2000 S4 coming in January. Tell
him Steve sent you.

P.S. I originally had a deal with Carlsen back in 97. I don't go to them for anything
anymore.

Several have had bad experiences at Carlsen service; a few had good experiences.

As for sales, David and Randy at Rector have been recommended, and some recommendations were posted for Mike Bradley at Carlsen. Ernst at Diablo is the most recommended of all in the area.

I highly recommand Carlsen coz I ordered an A4 there and the sale was being very helpful.
I got a fair deal out of Carlsen.

I strongly recommend David Leibenson at Rector. He knows his stuff and is straightforward. Rector also appears to have a better reputation for service, especially since they hired Hector and Dan as service managers.

To say that I did not have a good experience at Carlsen would be a huge understatement. The bottom line is that I chose Rector even though I live 5 minutes from Carlsen.

I suggest Rector on the Peninsula and Diablo if you live in the East Bay.

but on the Peninsula, Rector seems to be getting all the good reviews lately.

I've purchased and had service from Carlsen. Both have been disappointing experiences.

That's why I have a MY2000 A4 2.8QMSX on order from Rector. Dave Liebenson is great to work with. I don't think you can go wrong.

I bought my car from Ernst and he was the greatest, for a wonderful sales experience! I have since taken my car to Diablo Audi for service three times. Twice were for scheduled services (5k & 10K) but the third time was because my car was 3/4 to 1 quart overfilled at my 10k service. This was actually the second time my car was overfilled after a service at Diablo but the first time it was only 1/8 to 1/4 quart over.
Several people on this site have meantioned difficulties with Diablo's service and at this point I don't know if I could recommend them for service. If you want to buy a car, Ernst is great. If you are looking for sales & service Rector may be the place.

I dealt with Richard Griffith. He's a straightforward sales guy that is quite knowledgeable. I'm happy to hear that the service is rated well on this site. Check them out!!!

I have been to the Oakland dealer and to other Bay area dealers. I will tell you I had trouble with Carlsen and Oakland. Diablo finally was the one who fixed my problem. They called Audi and got them to assist. And I did get a free loaner car. Not a new Audi but not many others would do it for me. I did have to schedule the loaner though. Overall still the service was caring and I can't hold them responsible for the factory's problems. Like I said they did get Audi involved and fixed my car. Good Luck
