On a UK 1988 A100 Avant 2.0 RT (no ECU).
Have looked near wipers and in footwell under carpet but not yet found! Any photos perhaps?

On my US-spec 84 5000S, the ICU is located behind the carpeted panel that covers the area between the driver's (left side) front door edge and the driver's (left) side floor. To gain access to mine, I needed to peel back a portion of the rubber door gasket that covers the front of the door opening, and temporarily remove the bolt that fastens the hood (bonnet) lever fulcrum to the body. Sorry, no photos.

that is the location that I was thinking of, but I don't think that any bolts that fasten the hood (bonnet) lever fulcrum to the body had to be removed. Once the small carpeted panel is removed that is located just forward, near the bottom of the front door toward the firewall, you should have ready access to the ICU.....Rooster
