For some time I've been complaining about steering vibration when turning almost full-lock. From 3/4 to full, the car would shake violenty when turning at ANY speed. Brought it to Biener and they replaced the tie-rod. Problem solved? Nope. Misdiagnosis partially my fault I guess due to the fact that I specified that the shake was coming from steering wheel. Actually its the entire car that shakes on turning! It feels almost as if the rear end is being dragged across the pavement antiparallel to the direction of movement of the car.
I brought it to a local specialized Audi shop and they, after a test-drive, suggested that it may be a bad differential. I have Quattro BTW. Why didn't Biener take it for a drive? Anyway, I'm going into the dealer this week again if I could only get my service manager on the phone!
Also, the rear left tire is pretty eaten up on the inner lip, almost bald!...could the problem with the differential be the cause of this? I'm getting new Dunlop SP5000s next month and would hate to ruin them like this. And yes, I know all about tire rotation. ;-)
Bottom line is...anyone ever have problems with their Quattro system? The car now, even under moderately aggressive driving, squeals and howls on cornering! Not the ultimate Quattro driving experience.
Thanks....

just pray that it isn't some kind of misalignment from an encounter with a curb. I don't know if Audi would warranty that kind of damage (I have no negative experience in this regard - I'm just paranoid)

whatever you do wait on the tires until it's fixed. You might want to consider parking it until then, if it is seized it is hard on parts like the CV joints.

If a noise or vibration can only be identified during a drive, then don't just describe it to the desk jockey. Request that you go on a test drive with the actual Service Tech who will work on your car. Don't come back until he hears/feels the problem.

The extra time you take is better than having to bring the car back in for another visit.
