I asked them if its possible but I wanted to get an idea of how many people would buy the bulbs. I posted earlier asking if anyone had them but as of yet, no responses. I'd like to try them on an upcoming road trip, so, if possible let me know asap. Thanks!

PS: The A4 would need a 55W H7 for both low and high beams. Fogs use H1 bulbs.

Solaris bulbs

I'm interested. Do you know if anyone has already bought them? It's nice to see they have a pro-rata warranty and 90 day trial, but I wonder how well they really perform.

Unless someone wants to step forward and tell us if they have used them. Otherwise, we'll be the first ones.

What type of Solaris bulbs would it be to replace the 99.5 headlight bulbs? (Not the high-beam but the standard projection headlight bulbs)
The H4, H7 or the 9000-series?

All I was told:
"Sure, please tell us what your want and how many after getting an idea, and we will give you a really nice discount.
Customer Service"
But according to their email, us 99.5 owners need the 55w H7 for both low and high beams.

I got a pair of these for my 98.5 A4. I got the H7 for the low beams and the H1 for the fog lights. They claim to be as bright as xenons and produce a "whiter" light, but they were not even close. In fact, they weren't even close to being as bright as the stock H7's and H1's. They didn't shine as far, and now the lighting on the edges were much dimmer.
So the moral of the story is, if it's too good to be true... it probably is. Sorry to burst your bubble. Luckily for me, Autosupermart really stood behind their product (Which they should think about pulling off their shelves) and refunded my money without questions. You can still get them and see for yourselves, but that's up to you.

Superwhite/Premium Xenon Light Bulbs all German-made by Jahn
The latest European technology in a high output bulb. Xenon gas is used to cool the bulb filament and allow the halogen gas to burn brighter at a standard wattage.
Special blue glass increases the whiteness of the bulb with a trace of blue - a 30%-40% increase in light overall.
NOT a "blue tinted" high watt bulb - these bulbs bring the color temperature toward daylight levels much like an HID system without increasing wattage and at a fraction of the cost.
Only $17.95 each for the H7s and $9.75 for the H1s.

PUMA Web Site

I have had the Jahns in my 99.5 now for three months or so with no problems. They are not a lot brighter than the stock lights, just whiter. They aren't that close to a Xenon HID light in terms of brightness, but they are better than the stock bulbs, IMHO.

The ad says "30%-40% increase in light overall" which is not really true because you feel that the stock 99.5 bulbs are brighter.
I might give it a try. If you look right at the bulbs, do you see blue tint at all?
Thanks.

The bulbs have an obvious blue tint on them, but the output is white, not blue, even straight on. For $18 a piece, they are worth a try. I like them. My old man installed them on his SLK and the output was even whiter than my A4.
The stock lights are not actually brighter but about the same. The ad is incorrect, I think, unless you consider "whiter" as "brighter". The brightness of the two is the same but the Jahns are whiter. I think one could say the color is "brighter" but the actual output is the same.
Another plus with the Jahns is that they aren't some over-hyped superwhite unreliable over-wattage bulb. They are a 55W bulb, just like the stock but with a whiter color.

I like the part that these bulbs generate the same wattage as the stock ones. I have a friend in California who has tried several bulbs on the A4 with higher wattage hoping to overpower the stock lights but they usually don't last too long before they go out on him.
I've heard too many bad experiences about those superwhites.
The Jahns look whiter on the SLK - is it because of the possible higher wattage on the SLK headlights?

I have ththe H7 bulbs by solaris which i bought from autosupermart.com in my audi a4 avant, bought in august, i have put them in the low and high beams, and they work great, The cars lights look just like HID or xenon in a acura or lincoln, they are ok bright in low beam, i live in a dark area so they are fine, the light color from inside is very white, i use them with the fogs though to get a wider road patters at night, , in the fogs its hard to put the solaris in as the bumper is covered or something, i havent tried yet, i also have them in the high beams and they go very far, and are very white, i really like them. so far, its been 2 months so its not long term or anything, but the way i drive, the work fine and nothing goes wrong yet.
As far as im concerned, they were worth it , just the look is amazing, but in high beam they are really awesome.
go for it.
and with their policies, if you dont like it return it.

autosupermart.com

The SLK also took the 55W Jahn H7s, just like my 99.5 A4. The whiteness was the same between my car and my old man's SLK. I meant to say the Jahns were a lot whiter than the stock SLK bulbs. In other words, it made a bigger difference in my old man's car than it did in mine, maybe due to the light housing and reflector design, I don't know.
We had the stock bulb in one side and the Jahn in the other side in the SLK to see a difference and you could totally tell the Jahn was whiter. I didn't do this with mine, so maybe the upgrade felt more drastic with the SLK.

Go for the h7 bulbs.. but whatever you do , do not but the H1 bulbs because they burn out real fast. Speaking to several vendors, I have learned that the H1's are not designed as well.. go figure.. my h7's are still going strong after having them for 4 months.. my h1 burnt out in 2 months.

GIVE IT A TRY
10-28-1999, 11:46 AM
did you try the high beam? i have them in my audi, in high and low, in low the are a little dimmer, but the car looks awesome, like nothing else out there, really cool, and the high beam is powerful man, id goes so far and so wide its amazing, it blinds up to like 1000 yards on a dark road, so i dont know what you are really talking about, i left the fogs like thye are just to have a yellow light in the fog.
i say try them and if you dont like it return it, its worth if for people who are like me.
