The LED temperature display on my 2.8 is barely legible since a number of the pixels have stopped working over the last few months. Anyone else have this problem? My car is out of warranty so Audi won't fix it. The dealer wants $680. to install a new unit. Any suggestions for repair of my existing unit? Any help is greatly appreciated.

And I assume your warranty period has run out? I think someone is selling their gauge cluster on ebay (search A4) for $260(maybe?)

I should have been more clear. The unit I'm talking about is the interior climate control box located in the lower dash on the 2.8s (not sure if 1.8 owners have this).
