When you see a head unit that says 40W X 4, this can be very misleading. Number one this is peak power, realistically, it's probably more like 12 watts per channel, not 40.

Not to mention amplifier sound quality does vary, you can probably guess what I think of the quality of amps built into the head unit. When you think about it, there is some common sense here: look at the size and weight of a seperate amplifier vs. that in a built in CD player. I know we'd like to think there is a magical way to squeeze 160 watts into that box, ...sorry.
