the warning lite on my 86 5Ks has been blinking for a while. starts out red, beeps a few times then goes to yellow brake symbol. nothing wrong with the brakes though. fluids are up, pads are good, everything works fine.
so i've been living with a few beeps in the morning and looking at the brake indicator. now, the stupid thing goes through it's cycle every 2 or 3 minutes. the beeping is begining to get to me.
how do i disable the thing? relay? plug? some magic words?

There are two wires leading to a connection behind the brake master cylinder. Disconnecting one of them (either one, as far as I know) will disable the brake warning light. It is probably coming on due to a bad bomb. When the bomb doesn't hold pressure, it signals. My 86 5K has this issue as well. My yellow ABS light is always on, too. Am currently working on front brakes, A/C belt, etc. Am hoping to get these things as well as timing belt done by end of summer.

...I disconnected my ABS when I did a brake job on it. I'm wondering how to "trick" the ABS light off. I know it was done to a peral white 200 quattro avant this Feburary when the brakes were updated but I forgot who it was and how they did it. I'm concerned that if i disconect the sensor that when a real problem (like the bomb) occurs the display won't register it.

If the ps fluid gets low it will set off the brake light. You may have already known this...use the right fluid, not regular ps fluid.

I can stop by and show you were those wires are that will disable the brake warning lights. LMK...
