the fit is great, durability is good, and problems are none. Unfortunately I haven't put them through a winter yet, so we'll see on the durability issue.

As for the fit, I think I remember trying it out when I first got it, but it's been a while. It's one piece that covers the trunk's floor. It's made out of a different material than the mats, more foam like, and not as rugged as the mats. The mats are pretty stiff, and can see why they don't make the trunk liner like it (pain to get in and out, and transport). It's got a lip just like the mats, to keep water, etc. from getting on the lined trunk.

It's sitting in my garage until it starts snowing in Tahoe. At first I thought the trunk mat to be a waste, but now I'm glad I have it, cause I know how wet my previous car's trunk used to get after a weekend of skiing.

It'll be easy for me to check tonight on the fit. I'll post the fit later tonight or tomorrow morning. But don't not get the mats because of the trunk mat, just think of it as a bonus. =)

Wear is excellent. They hold snow and sand well, and don't have that rubbery look other winter mats have. My regular mats would have been toast by now. Here are some picks:

Also, about the rear mat- pretty useless IMO. It is smaller than the trunk area. But it is a good idea if you're going to throw logs or leaves and stuff like that back there.

Passenger side:

In my 1997, I have a problem with the rear mats. They seem to get wedged upder the driver's seat (power) when I move the seat. The lip is too high. Over time (6 months now), the problem seems to be getting better. The mats must be "breaking in."
Quality is great on the mats. My mats however seem to be darker than the mats that are pictured in Chris' photos.
Trunk mat? Doesn't cover much...it's not shaped to the trunk floor, it's just a foldable plasticy foam mat.
Good luck!

Chris, I really appreciate the pics you sent. Thanks. Say, specifically, where did you purchase the mats and if you care to say, how much were they? The fit looks like it's perfect and in snow and slush country here in Wisconsin, they look like they're going to be just what I'm looking for. Do they really keep the water off the carpet underneath? so I checked it out last night. As for the fit, it pretty much covers the bottom of the trunk, with a little play in both directions, maybe half an inch to an inch. I haven't picked it up in a while....it's very light, kinda flimsy, but it'll keep the trunk lining clean and dry. Once I put stuff on it, I doubt I'll even notice.

Also, I checked out your's and Audiboy's website. I like the tables showing the mod vs. run for different set ups. Nice job. How have you liked the APR chip? I've been debating between APR and Garrett. Both I've heard good reviews, but thought I'd ask anyway. How is low and high end torque? (i.e. 2nd and 3rd, vs. 4th and 5th).

Another question....from the events on the website, it looked like you guys are in Northern Cal. If you are, what kinda tires do you run during the summer/winter? This is another issue I'm trying to figure out. I head to Tahoe 1-2 weekends a month for skiing, so I'll need some "winter" tires to replace the SP 8000E's, but having a hard time deciding. Just a shot in the dark to see if you head to the mountains or not. But either way I'll need to replace the Dunlops in a few months anyway, so your input would be appreciated.

And finally, I saw your other post on racks, and I've heard really good things about the Yakima rack. The Yak will probably be my next purchase....towers, bars, ski & bike holders, and fairing.

first of all...thanks re: our website. we havent yet finished it. we have both been very busy.

apr chip/ecu: Ive had it for about 4 months now. i love it. the low end torque is fine with me and the high end is great. anything above 3k, the thing just screams. gas mileage has also increased. what i truly like about the apr is that i drives like stock if you like and if you stomp on it, it goes.

as for the winter, i just go back to my stock wheels and tires (i got the 15"-non sport). i have dunlop w10s now. the reason for the switch, 18" wheels and 225/40zr18 tires cost a lot more than the stock ones. the stock ones are all-season tires and are h rated, thus applicable to the snow.

We should go up together one weekend...I snowboard so im looking for a rack to hold my snowboard. If you plan on getting Yaks, maybe we can get together and get some sort of discount since we are buying 2 sets. Let me know.

It's good to here that the APR chip is performing well. And as far as the tires are concerned, I get mixed comments from other A4 owners. Some say all-weather (Pirelli 7000, Bridgestone Potenza RE 940's or RE92's, Michelin Pilot XGT V4's), while other say performance snow tire would be the best of both worlds during the winter (quattro and tires) (Pirelli 210A's, Dunlop M2's, and Michelin Pilot-Alpines). Ugh! Too many choices. As snow time get's closer I'm still not decided.

If you've had good results with the Dunlop all-seasons, maybe I should go that way. Hmmm.

And I'll ask around on the racks for a discount for two. I know I want the Yak, but just have to start pricing places. I'll keep you updated if I find anything. And your one of those borders?! j/k I have other friends who are snow borders, who I generally go up to Tahoe with too....you should join us. Our favorites are Kirkwood and Heavenly. Gotta love it!
