My 89 200 is giving me problems again. The car starts like a dream, but after I go somewhere it will not restart or it will run for a few seconds then cut out. Then will not start for another 20-30 minutes. Got desperate, took it to the Audi dealer, they replaced a collapsed breather hose ($300.00) and now it will not idle properly AND I still have the starting problem....screwed!!!! Any ideas?!!!? I really miss my car. (my Ram pickup is eating me alive)

$300 for a breather hose!? Jeez...
Don't tell me they looted you for $300 for the crankcase breather hose...?
Stay away from the dealer!
Ok, so you only have problems with starting the car when it's hot?
If so, could be:
Crank position sensor
Swollen fuel filter
Fuel injectors(too high of residual pressure)
By bet it's the injectors or the crank sensor.
Got a local independent shop that works with Audi's near you?

Is the after run fan working? The fan is used to cool the fuel lines to the injectors to prevent vapor lock.
Otherwise I would agree with Stephen and check the crank position sensor.

But it will start if I hold the gas pedal all the way down. Since it works fine that way, I stop asking why that is.
