Yesterday I was fooling with the factory radio and I had it disconnected for a while. Then I went back inside the house and locked the car. Well a few minues later my wife says "is that your car beeping?" yes, it was my car. Apparently the factory alarm is connected to the radio, and if removed it will trigger the beeping.

Now I am concerned about adding an aftermarket CD player that I have. Is there a way to bypass or jumper the alarm to not go off with a non factory stereo? I could really care less about the entire alarm, is there a way to shut the system off. The beeping was hardly loud enough to rouse the neighbors anyway.

The factory alarm's radio feed is simply a ground loop wire to the radio's chassis. steal the radio, the wire gets severed and the loop is broken. Alarm horn blares.

If you need more details, I have scans from the 89-91 100/200 Audi Technician's Training manual, at my website. There's a wiring schematic available.

http://members.fortunecity.com/willng/audi.html</a
