View Full Version : 97 6 disc changer for 98? JimV 10-26-1999, 05:21 AM Anyone know if the 97 6 disc changer is the same as in the 98? Steve S. 10-26-1999, 05:56 AM Although there may be a few exotic set-up when Audi changed the components between 97 and 98, I think they are different and have alot to do with the head unit that was used. In 1997 (and 96): Audi (in the US) used the Delta head unit in the A4. The changer was made by Alpine and actually costs $475 even to this day...kinda expensive. In 1998 to today: Audi uses a different head unit and a Panasonic cd changer. The Delta head unit of 96/97 is not directly plug n play with the panasonic cd changer. You can get the Panasonic cd changer from Clair Parts Express for about $279. Hope this helps. Steve S. 97 2.8QM 00 S4 (jan delivery?) DaveL 10-26-1999, 06:35 AM There are actually some early 1998's that actually have the Delta head unit. I think this is true only for the 2.8 30v. If you have a 30v engine but you have amber in the tail lamps, and the "football" logos then you probably have a Delta head unit and will need the Alpine changer. An example of an early '98 2.8 is Will Allen's / MichaelB's PES...which I know for sure has a Delta unit. The fact that I know all this confirms that I need to seek psychiatric HELP! ;-) DaveL '97 1.8TQMS Wett

Early '98 PES

Steve S. 10-26-1999, 06:55 AM DaveL 10-26-1999, 07:23 AM |
