Just to take you away from our everyday Audi "problems" here is something different... share what's the best compliment(s) your CAR has received from a stranger(not a family member). And what is the worst insult you've witnessed?
We're talking about Type 44s only!

I've recieved a few compliments on the paint job. ( It was repainted two years ago after a little off roading experience with bald tires, fresh snow, and a big steep bank. This was when it was still my moms car and she was driving.)

I pulled up at the local pizza place the other day and when I got out of the car a guy came over and asked if I would start the car up again so he could hear it. He said he used to work in an euro-car shop and that he had never heard a 5cly with balls before ;0)

The guy at the stereo shop thought the diff. lock was pretty cool and was suprised that the car was turbo charged.

I don't think anyone has insulted my car, yet at least.

First, my apologies that my car is not a 5000 or 200, nor a V-8.

I have to respond to this because on my way home from work on Tuesday I pulled up to a stop light. It was an offramp from the freeway and there were two turn lanes. I was in the front and the lane next to me was empty until this brand new Volvo S60 pulls up next to me. It was a woman driver with two young kids in the back. I look over and notice her eye-ing my car. She was looking it up and down trying to figure out what it was. Finally she sees the Audi side marker and I see her mouth the words to her kids, "Is that an Audi?". Right then she looks at me and I, of course, was grinning ear to ear. She rolls down her window and askes, "Is that a NEW Audi?" Nope, its a 1990 Coupe Quattro blah blah blah, I'm so tickled I can't even speak clearly. She tells me how beautiful it is and I could tell she was lusting (after the car).

I really love my coupe and I honestly don't think I could have made a better purchase. (my humble opinion of course)

Oops, forgot to mention that when the light turned green I was so adrenaline pumped I "ripped" through the gears to show off. hehe

Does haveing complaints lodged against your engineless '86 5ktq count? Hopefully they will stop since I put the lights and grille back on, and tied up the exhaust.

I've had several compliments from strangers. The best one I think I heard (or at least, most amusing) was, "Dude, that's an awesome car, man" (think Jeff Spikoli). This from a teenager skateboard guy.

I've had many ribbing comments when in grid at autocross. It really is among the biggest, heaviest, slowest car you could possibly autocross. It's been dubbed the Balistic Fridge by some club members. But I got my own back last week when we raced in the rain!

Hehe, was it a turd gen, or a 4th gen?

If it was a turd gen, my friend Rogge would say "dude, TPI kicks A$$!!" He's got a 3rd gen T/A...

I've heard this ALOT:
"You paid HOW much????"

Apparently people don't think you can get a nice car for $1000 these days... go figure >=)

3rd gen is boxy, 4th gen is rounded and the last production Camaro/Firebird. Last one rolled off the line not too long ago, and went directly to a museum.
