Well, it seems like it's turning over, but it just clicks loudly and rapidly, any ideas what's going on? I really have no experience with the situation of leaving my car alone for 3 months so it's beyond me =\
TIA
John

Maybe your battery just needs some juice...or it's not keeping the charge. If it's not that.....can you elaborate a bit more on the clicking sound --ie can you make out where in the engine its coming from?? Are there any indicator lights coming on when key is in "ON" position?? Possibly alternator....??

The click is probably the solenoid trying to do its job. Charge it or jump it before your next start! There were a lot of posts on the subject in a miscellaneous forum about two years ago. I think (not positive) they concluded that the storage life of a battery still hooked up, is only about three months in an Audi due to normal system drain.

There are lights on when I turn the ignition, though they are just the normal ones such as e-brake... The clicking seems to come from just ahead and to the right of the steering column, although I haven't had anyone else start it so I can't really get more specific =\

The front corner jump post or directly to the battery? Maybe the cables were not connected good and were jumping spark. Maybe it is the mysterious splice under the passenger foot carpet area. Try to jump it directly to the battery posts and see what happens or if that is what you did, then jump it from the right front post. Let us know what happens.

I would agree. Doesn't look like your problem is mechanical. Sounds more of an electrical fault. Is it possible you are jumping the car with an improper procedure?? -refer to the owner's manual (hopefully you still have it! :) ) for the proper procedures. If that's not it, then like crotext said if your doing it from the front post, go straight to the source: the battery itself underneath the rear seats. If it all checks out, you may have a grounding problem (wiring). Check to see all that is intact. Let us know if that doesn't work out either...

Hmm, I was jumping it using an old battery charger/jump starter so after reading all this I think it may be safe to assume it wasn't quite putting out enough power for the car, I'll see if I can charge it and try again, then.
Thanks
