i was told by a friend that i get some fuel injector cleaner and use it.. any suggestions for what kind (good/bad?) ? or are they pretty much the same

Use Techtron Fuel System cleaner made by Chevron. It's very easy to find, not very expensive and it seems to work if used regularly...every 3-4k miles.
Or, you can go to Audi dealer and get it from there but it will be under a different name - same stuff + extra $$.

is called "Autobahn Gas Additive." It has Techron in it like the Chevron product Dan suggested. Both work pretty well...
