Hey people talk about German engineering...Saturday I went to street racing here in RI, my Firebird burnt a spark plug cable so I went home around 10:30 pm to get my trusty 86 Audi 5000CS. Went to Lincoln where they were racing and I catch my boy in his Taurus taking on a 4000 Quattro. Of course the Taurus was automatic and the Audi manual...well you can tell my boy got smoked! But this Audi was something else!! muffler falling off, crashed in the front right end and probably a 84 or something...well this Audi was smoking RICERS!!!! I simply could not believe it!! Then the guy in the 4000 comes up to me and asks me if my Audi is stick, I said no and he moved on...my boy said "why don't you race (I never did before) Audi vs. Audi? You couldn't possibly lose as bad as I did.." So I was thinking "eh..true" so the 4000 was on the line, no one wanting to go against it. So I pull up next to it, and he's like "sure". Now both Audi's were stock, no NOS, exhaust etc. The 4000 was revving (cuz he had manual trans.) so I put my Audi in neutral and started revving too. Before I knew it the flagger had already counted down so I let my revs go down and popped it in D I was as fast as him!! only for so long though...:). I lost but when I went back, every ricer was like "What is in those cars?!!" so I told him "stock 5 cylinders, buddy" and started to walk away. Wow did Audi's get respected that night. 300ZXs, Civics, Integras, Eclipses, RX7s. All smoked by an Audi 4000 Quattro. I only raced once though. Then the "crazy" cars came. Full ground effects Eclipses with NOS had like 400+hp. Didn't even bother with them. My Audi has the KZ engine with ?115hp? so I was happy.

BTW for the people who think that this kind of racing is like the ones you hear of in California, Miami, Hawaii etc. it's not like that at all. We don't race down the streets with traffic, not highways etc. We race on dead ends that are straight, not even 1/4 mile is the distances. It's straights were there are no houses or any sort of traffic, so the only people in danger are the people racing. Like in where companies are setup etc. rural roads. And since people are usually gone from the workplace at the companies, there is not danger at all for people who are not racing.
