View Full Version : Headlights on my '85 5000S are not very bright... 89targa 09-23-2001, 08:27 PM and I would be interested in any ideas for improvements or upgrades. Thanks in advance. Trex 09-24-2001, 06:31 AM Headlights are a weak spot with the 5000 S. On my 1986 5000 S I put in the PIAA Super Whites. A little better, but not a lot. Bulb replacement is easy. If you have any problems, let me know. SteveAngry 09-25-2001, 02:53 AM the problem with the DOT lights are the crappy reflectors and inadequate light dispersal of the lense pattern. If you were to put in a higher wattage bulb you would technically have more light output but you would not be able to broadcast it correctly. So there is no potential gains in even bothering with a brighter bulb in the DOT lights... Only way to go for better lighting is with a nice set of driving lights or a set of expensive Euro's lights... HTH!
