My '89 100 has a noisy lifter. Are there any chemical nostrums liable to help?

for a little bit. It will quiet the lifters for maybe a week tops and then it's back to the normal clatter...

Otherwise try Mobil 1 and a good filter and see if that does any good...

Most of the times the only way to get rid of lifter clatter is to put in new lifters!

Lifter test: To determine if lifters need replacing...

Start car...

Rev car at 2500 RPM's for at least 2 minutes...

If lifter(s) are still noisy then they will have to be replaced...
