They tell me they can convert my system to the new r-124a (or something like that) for around 200 bux. They use the same compressor by adding a few bolt on parts, flushing the system and changing its oil.
Ya think this is wise? Hey, it doesnt work now, so this would be doing me 2 things... converting the system (which i heard will no longer be available even for parts or refrigerant in a few years) AND charging my system which is cheaper by a ton when recharging with the old freon.
Just wondering if anyone has done this, or if you think I should just ride without a/c anyway since the car is 15 years old. 87 5000 cs turbo 2.2 auto
Thanks!

why change the hoses?
If he doesnt do it... what harm could it do besides just needing to be replaced later and then recharged (which is cheap anyway with r134a)?

Im just debating in my mind whether to do it, cuz its gonna be cold out soon anyway. The 200 dollar price got me excited, thats all. And if I had them do it, I'd just let them do whatever they wanted since they're the experts and did it enough. Who wants a peon telling a professional what to do with his freon? :)
