I want to buy a 90/91 200 TQ wagon just as soon as the old ship comes in. I've had 5000 wagons since '88 just never a t or a q. Back in the very old days it was said that a turbo needed to spin down before the engine was shut off, especially if one had gone quickly from hiway speeds to stopping, e.g. freeway rest plazas. Is this the case with the 90/91s?
Thanks

let the turbo cool down before shutting off the car. Those type 44 cars have turbos that are water cooled. There is an after run pump that circulates fluid to the turbo to cool it after shut down...

The older style 5000's(early 80's) were not water cooled like the latter 5000/200's so they needed to be run at idle for at least a couple of minutes to cool down the turbo or a rebuild would be needed after awhile due to coking of the turbo oil and the heat stress that followed...
