Hi

I have a 1990 Audi 100 Wagon, which I think is identical to the 5000 Wagon in the US?

The automatic, hydraulic level adjustment has broken down. The car is very low in the rear, and there is hardly any suspension at all.

It is now at an authorized Audi dealer, but they can not determine what is wrong. They say they can begin changing parts until it sorks, and that it might cost as much as (equivalent to) USD 2000.

Which is a lot more than I was hoping for, naturally.

If anyone has ideas or suggestions, I would be very grateful.

Thanks.

the self leveling suspension here in America!

I checked the Bentley manual for some answers/help and there is nothing in there regarding self-leveling suspension. Sorry:(

Your best bet is to go to an authorized Audi center or a shop specailizing in Audi's and see what they can come up with. Don't throw away money by swapping in parts until it "works."

i have a 5000s with auto-level, i know because it broke, and it costs alot to fix. basically, the system itslef is so terribly complicated, and so many things can cause it (leaks, breaks, pumps, air, etc.) that your best bet would be to take it to an independent garage, and have them diagnose it, then buy the part uused somewhere, and have someone else fix it.
