What is the hose that is located under the car and I believe is coming from the intercooler? I'm not talking about the michelin man intercooler rubber hose. The one I'm talking about is plastic with a lot of ribs and you have to get under the front bumper to see it. Mine is torn to shreds and I'm wondering what purpose it has.

It's probably the cooling hose which brings fresh air direct to the back end of the alternator. On turbos especially, that's a hot area. I replaced it with a piece of flex hose like used on the conventional air cleaners (while replacing a burned out alternator).

Thanks Bucktwo. That's exactly where the hose goes to (the alternator). I'll likely do the same and just use flex hose.
