View Full Version : 89-91 100 Auto Trans... Seattle 90q20v 06-18-2001, 05:42 PM Anyone here have to replace theirs and could give a ballpark estimate of cost for transmission, job, or both? Not there yet, but wondering what to expect.....thanks in advance.... SteveAngry 06-18-2001, 06:18 PM I've heard of used trans going for anywhere from $300-$600 used... Installed with labor you are probably looking at $1600-$2000+...However, if you you can replace it yourself you'll save a ton of money! Problem with used tranny's is that you never know when the used one could go...:( Keep an eye on your fluid levels. Biggest problem with Audi(ZF) auto tranny's is that the seal between the differential and the tranny tends to leak and the fluids combine and ruin your tranny. Watch your tranny fluid level and if it seems like it is getting higher then you could be having this problem...HTH. Steve Ankney 88 5000 Holland, MI DanA100 06-19-2001, 08:00 PM I rebuilt mine and everything including labor, fluids, parts...etc was around $1800. The car was in the shop for 3 days. So far i'm happy with the rebuilt. It's been 15k miles since then and i wonder now how long a tranny would last after a rebuilt??? ottochal 06-23-2001, 11:10 PM I agree totaly, except: the late '91 100 has the first 4-spd. A/T, which is much more expensive and completely different. I am just working on one, dealer offered rebuilt for about 3.5K, junkyard asks 1.5K. So I have purch. another compl. car for 1.5K and swap. BTW - last friday I found that tranny and control unit is OK, just the valve body (actualy one solenoid valve, which is not replaceable) died. |
