Hello Forum... I am nearly done with my S4 as I come to the top end rebuild, turbo, etc set up and want some advice.
I have rebuilt the bottom end with forged rods, oversized pistons, etc to preface where I'm going. I have an rs2 manifold, fmic, as well as MTM software. I've redone all the suspension, have big blacks 993 rotors/calipers along with some other things... (plenty of other things)
So including purchase price I'm in her for about a new A4 (including labor of course) and now currently I'm at the final step. Like most of you I've gone back and forth many times do I keep her or sell her before I move from Denver to Chicago and being this deep already, decided to keep her and finish the job I started.

So I'm at the final stage of the rebuild. I went from suspension, to bottom half, brakes, then paint for some reason, to now the top half so I tried to go in a pattern that made sense. I'm b/t full rs2 or a bit beyond. Dave Jones in Denver has done all the work on my car and before we meet for lunch next week, I'd like to see where some of you have gone and how it's working in terms of dependability. When done, this is going to be my winter/sh!tty weather driver as I'm looking at a new toy this summer. How have the 3071's worked with an rs2 mani, any other set ups out there people like, etc?

Thanks for any tips, advice as to what you've done and liked and not being too terribly in the know about cars if anyone wants to know more specifics as to what I've had done, I'm happy to share.

Thanks in advance.

I also have a set of 15's factory winter wheels/tires I'm giving away, a steel crossover pipe, and mich man hose if anyone's interested. It's all free if you want any of it. Just pay for packaging and shipping if I have to or come get it in Denver.

...why go through all that just to build it and sell it to someone that will not appreciate the time and effort that went into bringing it back to shape. Good luck deciding

...selling it seems to be completely loony.

Drive it for a while first. Then decide one way or another.

and how dependable they've been for you.

And when I had the boost hose off, the shaft play was nil in any dimension.

I current own, but have out on loan to |Skolnik a previously-loved RS2 blower. The recently-previous owner says it's just as tight.

The OEM turbos are plenty robust.

Folks here have had good luck with the smaller GT turbos - the GT28 and GT30 models. I haven't heard of any problems with those guys.
